The Perfect Day

Bonjour!

Today, I will not read or listen to the news.

I will not look at my calendar, or my day planner.

I will not worry about how much I weigh, or how I look.

I will not check work email.

I will not even think about laundry.

I will not let my stomach/back/headache stop me from smiling.

I will not worry about my mother’s heart attack, or her two new stents.

I will not miss my parents, or far-flung friends, or Vermont, or my childhood.

I will not wonder why no one seems to care about anything anymore.

I will not feel helpless and lost in a world I no longer understand.

Today, I will take a hot shower, and use my fancy French almond oil.

I will take a long walk around my neighborhood.

I make a double-shot latte that I dust with organic cinnamon.

I will make fresh hummingbird food, because L’Husband loves hummingbirds.

I will hide a cherry tomato in L’Husband’s cereal bowl, because I like to keep him on his toes.

I will start a new book.

I will reach out to a friend.

I will hold my baby. I will walk my dog.

I will drink a cup of tea, and then another, and then another.

I will remember I fit perfectly into my own life.

I will look out the window at the flowers and the trees and the sky, and I will breathe.

What is your idea of the perfect day?

Merci for reading and please subscribe and share!

À votre santé,

Katie
