On the Fifth Day of Katiemas, I Got a Taylor Swift Cookie

File under: “Karma is the breeze in my hair on the weekend”

Bonjour!

I’ve been trying new things this year, including expanding my musical vocabulary to include some new artists I’ve somehow managed to miss (or avoid) in the last decade. And I love Taylor Swift. I can’t explain it and I don’t want to; her music came into my life at the right moment.

As a newly minted fan, I am still catching up on Taylor lore. Apparently, her birthday is December 13, and my thoughtful aunt brought me a delicious sugar cookie decorated in her honor to mark the occasion. It’s the perfect addition to The 12 Days of Katiemas too!

Oh, Taylor, you beautiful genius

🍪 More Christmas Cookies, Please

On the Second Day of Katiemas, I wrapped some gifts, bought a poinsettia, and made it out of the post office and bank alive. It’s still sunny and mild for December in central Illinois, and I intend to take advantage and spend some time outside (putting snow stakes in the yard because winter is indeed coming).

Today, plans include:

Attending a toddler playdate with Nana and Papa.

Prepping to bake gingerbread cookies and brownie peppermint crackles.

Watching Christmas in Connecticut (1945), which will lead me to Casablanca (1942).

Folding five loads of laundry, because I am a wild woman.

The holiday spirit knows no bounds

😭 Toddler Update: I Have All the Feelings

Yesterday was one of those Toddler Days that punches you right in the face. The kiddo was all torqued up with a fever and crying and refusing to nap and throwing everything and then giggling and smiling and eating all his dinner. The clinical term for this phenomenon is Acting Like a Psycho.

Today we are fever-free and all smiles, so we will play with toys and read books and listen to music. This is the life!

🕯️Embrace Your Season

Thank you for reading about my journey to relax and enjoy the holidays and make time for rest and self-care at the end of a long year. Your time is now too!

What are you looking forward to in the new year?

Merci for reading and please subscribe and share!

À votre santé,

Katie
