Positive Daily Affirmations

Bonjour!

During my pregnancy, I thought a lot about how to have a more positive mental attitude as part of my commitment to joyful living. I realized my bad habits of centering negative thoughts and vibes was not only dragging me down and holding me back from living my best life, but sending bad energy to Le Bébé too.

And so, for the first time in my adult life, I actually tried to be more optimistic and let go of mistakes and worries beyond my control for the sake of my health and the tiny human.

The emphasis here is on trying. The goal is progress, not perfection. (It’s also la foundation of my 2022 goal to have a more mindful, sustainable, and organic lifestyle.)

Trying can be hard enough sometimes. En fait, the world is a particularly scary and grim place right now. It’s very easy to be daunted and discouraged, whether by the news or your own negative self-talk.

Now that I’m in early days of new motherhood, having a positive mental attitude for myself and ma famille as I recover from pregnancy and childbirth is more important than ever. (Check out some positive affirmations for parents here.)

One way to give yourself a boost is creating and incorporating a mantra or affirmation as part of your daily ritual. As part of a mindfulness practice, an affirmation is just what it sounds like: A positive message you repeat to encourage yourself and/or to remind yourself of the positive things in your life.

An affirmation and positive mental attitude are meant to nurture, not add more pressure or expectations to your daily tasks and routines. An affirmation is an enhancement, not a distraction; it should add peace, not anxiety. A great time to focus on your affirmation is on your Hot Girl Walk (le wink!).

Because I love a good quotation, some of my favorite affirmations come from my favorite television shows and movies:

  • I am a goddess, a glorious female warrior. (Parks and Recreation)
  • I feel good, I feel great, I feel wonderful. (What About Bob?)
  • I am the intellectual equal of everyone in this room. (Bridget Jones’ Diary)
  • Don’t worry, everyone will love you. (Legally Blonde)

Les idées for your own positive affirmations:

  • What you’re grateful for.
  • What you’re happy and/or excited about.
  • What you want to work toward.
  • What you want and/or deserve.
  • How amazing, accomplished, and awesome you are.
  • How you bring joy to others.

What can you do to start being more positive and optimistic today?

Merci for reading and please subscribe and share!

À votre santé,

Katie
