Bonjour!
Welcome to the third installment of my ruminations on my personal mission statement, where I explore the meaning of sustainability. Today’s post shares tips for embracing sustainability. I recently shared my approach to embracing authenticity and embracing joy.

🍃 What Is Sustainable Living?
Sustainability focuses on making lifestyle choices that benefit the environment and the future of Mother Earth. A sustainable lifestyle acknowledges my impact on the world and seeks progress through small, incremental changes to be better. The goal is progress, not perfection.
To be more sustainable, I’ve incorporated more organic and sustainable products and habits in recent years. I also pay attention to how I spend my time and money and embrace the good old reduce, reuse, recycle mantra.

🛍️ Tips for Sustainable Living
Shop local products, which have a smaller carbon footprint that those shipped across the country (or world).
Consider how to use less energy and make less waste around the home and office. Think about your consumption of paper goods, water, electricity. How much trash are you making? What can you reuse or recycle?
Upcycle, repair, and repurpose things you already have before buying new. I put this approach into practice when I designed my fabulous Snoopy bay nursery.
Focus on baby steps and small goals in your eating, cleaning, shopping, and travel habits (progress, not perfection!).

🍎 How I Incorporate Sustainability in My Life
I buy produce, baked goods, and other wares from farmer’s markets and food coops when I can afford it.
I swap clothes or accessories and home or holiday decorations with family and friends.
I use eco-friendly cleansers and detergents and compostable rags.
I recycle as much as I can and use the free Terra Cycle program to recycle beauty empties, torn or stained baby clothes, and baby food containers.
I drive a hybrid car.
Remember, this is just one person’s opinion! Being more sustainable is a journey, not a destination – set small, reasonable goals and you will make a difference.
How can you incorporate sustainability in your daily routines and activities?
