Bonjour!
As I posted recently, I love to decorate my house, especially for the holidays. Just in time for Halloween, today’s post shares a simple and tasty dessert inspired by the spookiest season. Hold on to your hats, because this dessert is easy, it’s sweet, and it’s fun!

Les Ingrédients
- 1 box chocolate pudding mix
- 1 package chocolate wafter cookies
- Gummy worms and/or other Halloween candies (candy corn, candy spiders, etc.)
- 3 to 4 serving pieces (bowls, cups, containers with lids, etc.; I used disposable mini pot pie containers)
La Recette
- Prepare chocolate pudding according to package directions. I use lactose-free milk to keep the recipe FODMAP-friendly due to chronic IBS. (I also try to eat gluten-free as much as possible.)
- Let pudding set in refrigerator for five minutes. In the meantime, finely crush the chocolate wafers in a plastic bag with a kitchen hammer (i.e., a mallet).
- Using one-half of the crushed wafters, evenly divide and layer in the bottom of your serving pieces. Remove the pudding from the refrigerator, divide evenly, and layer on top of the crushed wafers. Top with the remaining and evenly divided wafers.
- Top wafers with gummy worms and other Halloween candies, if desired. Cover and store in refrigerator until ready to eat.
Read on for a digital scrapbook of my Halloween-dessert-making moment, with my favorite sous chef.
I sourced ingredients from a variety of high-low establishments: Dollar Tree (chocolate wafers), grocery store (pudding), and food coop (organic gummy worms).

Lactose-free milk keeps the recipe FODMAP-friendly, and mini pot pie containers make for easy storage and transport.

Le Chien was very “helpful” (le sigh) intrigued by the wacking of the wafers.

The layering begins! The look can be messy – it’s dirt, after all.

That looks absolutely yummy and creepy at the same time Katie! I love chocolate mousse or ice cream for dessert (especially (salted) caramel)
